A graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School and former staffer of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Gerry Connolly has served voters in and around Fairfax since 2008.
Connolly is a top J Street champion in the House.
As a longtime supporter of the US-Israel relationship, few in Congress follow the conflict itself and Israel’s own domestic politics as closely as Connolly does. Early in his career at the Foreign Relations Committee, he worked to strengthen and solidify US aid to Israel. He has met most Israeli Prime Ministers in recent memory.
Speaking at the J Street National Conference in 2022, he said that today, holding Netanyahu’s new extreme, far-right government accountable has to be a top priority. “I want to see a secure, stable, free, democratic Jewish state,” he told attendees, “and I also want to see a stable, democratic, free Palestinian state.”
Connolly has served on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs since his election, with a special focus Subcommittee on the Middle East and Africa. He is also a member of the Committee on Oversight and Reform.
