Joby Bernstein is an investor and climate change expert who is running to replace retiring Rep. Anna Eshoo. At 28 years old, he would be one of the youngest members of Congress.
Bernstein, who is Jewish, started and led climate-tech investing at Wasatch Global Investors. Before that, he was a senior portfolio manager associate for Dodge & Cox's International Fund. His experience spans investment management, venture capital, growth equity, investment banking, and private equity. Bernstein also worked for the New Hampshire and Vermont state legislatures as a policy researcher in natural resources and economics. He worked for the Utah state legislature in laying the groundwork to create a green bank.
Bernstein has committed to “[advocating] for continued assistance to Israel, as well as the resumption of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians.” He has said that he is “focused on human rights in Gaza, and [wants] to see a day where all residents in Israel and Gaza feel safe and have a clear sense of belonging.” Bernstein is adamant that “it is crucial to refrain from actions that could undermine the potential for a two-state solution and exacerbate tensions.” Bernstein is an outspoken opponent of antisemitism and supporter of Israel.
