Liz Gereghty is one of two JStreetPAC 'Primary Approved' candidates running for the New York 17th District seat in the June 27, 2024 primary. Competitor Mondaire Jones is also primary approved.
Liz Whitmer Gereghty is a resident of the Hudson Valley who is challenging Mike Lawler in New York’s 17th District. After graduating from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, she moved to raise her family and start her business in the Katonah area. Liz serves on the Katonah-Lewisboro School Board and played a critical role in leading the district through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. She is running for Congress to be a “leader who is ready to do the hard work to make the Hudson Valley more affordable for families.” She is passionate about issues that her constituents care about, including fighting for common-sense gun safety reform and quality public education.
Liz Gereghty is proud to be a pro-Israel, pro-democracy candidate. She strongly supports continued aid to Israel and the Biden administration’s efforts to restore humanitarian aid for Palestinians. She believes that the US has an important role to play in promoting a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In Congress, Liz will support US engagement in facilitating Israeli and Palestinian negotiations that result in a two-state solution. She will advocate for the US to block actions that seek to derail negotiations such as Israeli settlement expansion into the West Bank. Liz has been “inspired to watch hundreds of thousands of Israelis exercise their freedom of speech and their right to protest their own government” and she joins President Biden in his concern about proposed changes to Israel’s government and legal system that could undermine the values of democracy.
