Stalwart liberal Al Green has represented southern Houston in the House since 2005.
Green has been a fervent champion of liberal social policies: he has consistently voted against restrictions on abortion, advocated for strict gun control, and denounced President Trump for inciting hate and hostility towards transgender people.
Green has focused on advancing fair housing and fair hiring practices, among other progressive legislative priorities. He was the first member to present articles of impeachment against President Trump in May 2017.
Rep. Green serves on the Committee on Financial Services, where he previously chaired the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
A JStreetPAC endorsee since 2016, Congressman Green has been a longtime champion of the two-state solution and a pro-diplomacy approach to foreign policy. He cosponsored H.Res. 326, which put Congress on the record reaffirming support for the two-state solution and opposing annexation and settlement expansion.
