The only current PhD physicist in the US House, Congressman Bill Foster was elected in 2008. He currently represents the voters of northern Illinois, including most of McHenry and Kane Counties, parts of Boone, Lake, DeKalb, DuPage, Cook and Will counties.
Prior to Congress, Foster received the highest reward bestowed by the American Astronomical Society. He currently sits on the Committee on Financial Services, and serves as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy. Foster is a member of the New Democrat Coalition and serves as the co-chair of the Advanced Nuclear Caucus.
Rep. Foster is a J Street champion.
Congressman Foster has been a JStreetPAC endorsee since 2010 and is an advocate for J Street’s priorities on the Hill. He has consistently supported J Street’s advocacy vehicles, including co-sponsoring H.Res. 326, which reaffirmed support for the two-state solution and opposed annexation and settlement expansion.
