Progressive champion Jamaal Bowman has represented Westchester, Yonkers, Mt. Vernon and New Rochelle since his upset victory over veteran congressman Elliot Engel in the 2020 Democratic primary.
Bowman is a leading progressive advocate in the House, describing his platform as "anti-poverty and anti-racist," with support for expanded housing access, criminal justice reform, education equality, Medicare for All and a Green New Deal.
Bowman serves on the House Committee on Education and Labor and the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
Bowman is a champion of J Street’s policies and values.
In June 2022, he signed the Price-Lee-Wexton-Castro letter which pushed back against “flashpoints” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including settlement expansion, annexation and incitement to violence against Israelis and Palestinians. He also signed the 2022 Pocan-Schakowsky letter which vigorously opposed the proposed construction of the E-1 settlement, which was subsequently postponed.
Congressman Bowman supported President Obama's Iran deal, which verifiably blocked Iran's path to nuclear weapons, and publicly condemned President Trump’s withdrawal from the agreement.
