Jamie McLeod-Skinner is a civil engineer, attorney, and small business owner who has led wildfire recovery, community resilience building, natural resource protection, and development of affordable housing. She is a proud former union member. Her grandparents were factory workers and her mom worked three jobs to put food on their table.

As a child, Jamie lived in the Midwest, East Africa (during the time of Idi Amin), and Southern Oregon. She completed her Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, her Master’s in City and Regional Planning at Cornell, and her Juris Doctorate at the University of Oregon School of Law with a focus on Natural Resources and Indian Law.

Jamie's public service career began in post-war Bosnia and Kosovo, managing the reconstruction of schools and hospitals for the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She returned to the United States to lead the IRC’s refugee resettlement office in Silicon Valley and work for a regional water agency. Jamie served on the Santa Clara City Council from 2004 to 2012 before returning to Oregon, where she was elected to an Education Service District Board in rural Central Oregon and served from 2019-2023. Jamie currently serves on the statewide Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board.

Jamie uses her perspective built on her experience living and working internationally, her work bridging the urban-rural and political divides, as well as the experiences of her Jewish family and friends, to inform her positions on JStreetPAC's issues. She “will draw on [her] own experience living and working in countries that have experienced war to protect our national security and our relationships with our allies.” Jamie has pledged to “do everything in [her] power to strengthen and preserve our bond with Israel while continuing the US tradition of investing in security and peace in the Middle East.” Jamie is committed to “a two-state solution… the best path to uphold democracy, peace, and self-determination for both the Israeli and Palestinian people.”
