Joe Kerr served as a Fire Captain with the Orange County Fire Authority for 34 years. He was elected as the first President of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, he is the former Vice President of the California Professional Firefighters, and he is a former Vice President of the Orange County Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO). As a leader in labor, Kerr helped pass over 200 bills and initiatives by 5 governors and 2 presidents. After retiring in 2012, Kerr continued to receive awards and accolades for his work. Kerr is running to unseat Young Kim, a MAGA Republican.
Kerr is running for Congress with liberal values of protecting reproductive freedom, fighting against climate change, and ending gun violence.
Kerr has committed to supporting J Street positions in Congress and working with J Street to more fully understand our issue. He is committed to continuing aid to Israel, sending aid to Palestinians, and working towards a diplomatic peace process and a two-state solution.
