In the legislature Joe supported a number of causes, but made a name for himself by passing legislation to make historic investments attracting more mental health professionals in Maryland public schools, combat the rise in hate crimes through the establishment of the Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention, and address the fentanyl crisis by dramatically improving fentanyl testing processes in Maryland hospitals through the Josh Siems Act.
According to the Cook Political Report, MD-06 is a likely Democrat seat. Joe has received endorsements from J Street allies Robert Garcia and Becca Balint. He has also received endorsements from the Equality PAC, Voters of Tomorrow, the LGBT+ Victory Fund, and others.
Joe Vogel is strongly aligned with J Street. Joe is “firmly committed to efforts to strengthen Israel’s democracy – just like I am committed to efforts to strengthen American democracy.” He also supports “negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian governments, to reach a two-state solution and lasting peace.”
