In 2018, Josh Harder flipped his Central Valley seat representing the communities of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Contra Costa Counties. A fifth-generation resident of the region, Harder is committed to representing his hometown in Congress.
Rep. Harder sits on the all-important Appropriations Committee, where he serves on the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, as well as the Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Known to eschew partisan politics, he is a member of the New Democrat Coalition and the Problem Solvers Caucus.
Outside of his committee memberships, Rep. Harder is passionate about making healthcare accessible to all Americans. He works tirelessly to promote medical equity in the region by ensuring more funding for training doctors in the Central Valley.
Josh Harder is a strong ally for J Street in Congress.
He signed on to H.R. 5344, the Two-State Solution Act. During the 2021 Gaza escalation, he signed a letter pressing the Biden administration to work toward an immediate ceasefire.
