Mike Thompson has represented his North Bay and wine country district since 1999, following a decade-long tenure in the California State Senate.
Thompson is the co-founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Wine Caucus, a position he is proud of as a small vineyard owner and representative of much of California’s wine country. He also chairs the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, which formed in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting. He also is an avid outdoorsman, having twice co-chaired the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus.
In addition to the caucuses, Rep. Thompson sits on the Committee on Ways and Means, which has jurisdiction over taxation, tariffs and all revenue-raising measures.
Mike Thompson is a longtime J Street ally.
He supported H.R. 5344, the Two-State Solution Act, and signed Rep. Raskin’s letter urging Sen. Jim Risch to stop blocking millions in humanitarian aid for Palestinians. He also signed the Price-Lee-Wexton-Castro letter which pushed back against “flashpoints” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including settlement expansion, annexation and incitement to violence against Israelis and Palestinians.
