Sarah Trone Garriott is an Iowa State Senator, Lutheran Minister and former non-profit executive running to unseat Zach Nunn in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District.
She has served as both a hospital chaplain and congregational pastor, also serving as the Coordinator of Interfaith Engagement for the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry Network.
Elected in 2020, Trone Garriott flipped a State Senate seat from red to blue. After redistricting in 2022, she moved her family to challenge then–Senate President Jake Chapman and won by three points, even as Governor Reynolds carried the district by seven. In 2024, she won reelection while Donald Trump also carried her district.
