Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Jayapal has represented Seattle since 2017, when she became the first Indian-American woman elected to the House. She is a close friend and key ally of the pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy movement and has been a champion for J Street’s values in Congress
