The dean of the Wisconsin Congressional delegation, progressive Gwen Moore was elected to represent Milwaukee and its suburbs in 2004. She was the first Black woman to be elected to Congress from Wisconsin.
Prior to Congress, Rep. Moore was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1988, after which she joined the Wisconsin Senate in 1992. She has been a lifelong advocate for women’s issues and the rights of workers.
She serves on the Committee on Ways and Means, where she sits on the Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee. On the subcommittee, her focus has been creating a fair and progressive tax code. She also sits on the Social Security and Worker and Family Support Subcommittees.
