The only current PhD physicist in the US House, Congressman Bill Foster was elected in 2008. He currently represents the voters of Northern Illinois, including most of McHenry and Kane Counties, parts of Boone, Lake, DeKalb, DuPage, Cook and Will counties.
Prior to Congress, Foster received the highest award bestowed by the American Astronomical Society. Congressman Foster has been a JStreetPAC endorsee since 2010 and is an advocate for J Street’s priorities on the Hill.
Before he became a Member of Congress, Foster worked as a high-energy physicist and particle accelerator designer at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). He was a member of the team that discovered the top quark, the heaviest known form of matter.
