Eric Sorensen is a freshman Member of Congress representing Rockford, the Quad Cities, Peoria and Bloomington.
Sorensen, the first gay Member of Congress from Illinois, is a former weatherman who is passionate about communicating climate issues in an accessible manner. Aside from climate, he is focused on kitchen table issues that impact his constituents’ daily lives — addressing rising costs, creating sustainable jobs, and strengthening our health care system.
In conversations with J Street, Sorensen made clear his strong support for Israeli security and Palestinian self-determination, and his opposition to actions that could bring peace further out of reach. He backs a diplomatic solution to the Iran nuclear crisis that would block their path to a bomb and avoid a potentially catastrophic war of choice.
