Progressive champion Chuy García has represented Southwestern Chicago in the House since 2019. Prior to his election to Congress, Congressman García was a member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
García’s history in politics dates back to 1984, when he challenged a powerful party figure for a position in the local Democratic Party. García won by 59 votes in a race deemed the “Council Wars.” Since then, García has been a progressive icon in the city of Chicago. His legislative priorities include fighting for universal healthcare, reforming our immigration system and promoting worker rights.
