A veteran progressive legislator and oversight champion, Jerry Nadler has represented Manhattan voters since 1992.
After winning a competitive 2022 redistricting primary with J Street’s strong support, his district now wraps around the southern end of Central Park, encompassing the Upper East and West Sides right down to Chelsea and Murray Hill.
A longtime champion of diplomacy-first, values-driven foreign policy, Nadler was an early and vocal opponent of President Bush’s Iraq War. A Jewish congressman representing one of the most Jewish districts in the country, Rep. Nadler’s strong, vocal support for President Obama’s Iran deal in 2015 proved critical.
Rep. Nadler is a veteran of the House Judiciary Committee, spearheading oversight investigations and chairing the committee through the Trump presidency. He led impeachment hearings against Trump on both occasions.
Jerry Nadler is a longtime J Street champion.
He has been a longstanding, consistent supporter of a two-state solution and a vocal opponent to actions which undermine peace, freedom and security -- including terror attacks and indiscriminate rocket fire, and settlement expansion, demolitions and annexation. Nadler cosponsored H.Res. 326, reaffirming congressional support for a two-state solution and opposition to settlement expansion and annexation.
Rep. Nadler was a strong supporter of the President Obama's Iran deal, which verifiably blocked Iran's path to nuclear weapons, and blasted President Trump’s unilateral decision to leave the deal. “President Trump presented no coherent argument or factual reason to justify his withdrawal,” Nadler said. “The President’s decision leaves us further from stopping Iran’s nuclear ambitions or countering its illicit conduct.”
