Jonathan Nez is the Democratic nominee running to unseat GOP incumbent Eli Crane in Arizona's 2nd congressional district. Born in Tuba City Arizona, Nez is a member of the Áshįįhí (Salt People) and the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle clan). At 29, Nez began a career of public service as the Vice President of the Shonto Chapter of the Navajo Nation. In 2019, Nez was elected to serve as President of the Navajo Nation. His legislative priorities include job creation, cutting food and energy costs, and protecting reproductive rights. Nez holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration both from Northern Arizona University.
Nez is a strong supporter of Israel as the democratic homeland for the Jewish people. He is committed to supporting a ceasefire and hostage deal. Nez is a strong supporter of a two state solution that ensure a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike, and he understands that negotiated agreements will only be possible if Israel ceases uninhibited settlement expansion. Nez has urged using all the tools of diplomacy to bring the war to an end, and for continued robust humanitarian aid for Palestinians.
