Jonathan Nez is the former President of the Navajo Nation and is running to unseat GOP incumbent Eli Crane in Arizona's 2nd congressional district.
Born in Tuba City, Arizona, Nez is a member of the Áshįįhí (Salt People) and the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle clan). At 29, Nez began his career in public service as the Vice President of the Shonto Chapter of the Navajo Nation. He went on to serve on the Navajo Nation Council and the County Board of Supervisors before eventually being elected Vice President of the Navajo Nation in 2015. In 2019, he was elected President of the Navajo Nation and served until 2023.
