  • Primary Approved
  • 3rd District , wisconsin

Katrina Shankland was born and raised in Wisconsin. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Wisconsin. Katrina was a nonprofit professional before her election to the state assembly in 2012.

In the legislature, Katrina passed commonsense, bipartisan legislation during every single session she has served, under both Republican and Democratic governors. She has co-authored and co-sponsored nearly 200 bills that were signed into law. Among other issues, Shankland focused on increasing access to affordable healthcare in rural areas, protecting first responders from reckless drivers, launching a program to remediate and replace contaminated wells and helping farmers improve water quality.

Shankland is a strong supporter of the US-Israel relationship and supports “a diplomacy-first foreign policy strategy to promote stability, facilitate enhanced cooperation, and ultimately prevent violence.” She believes that “the United States is and should continue to take an essential leadership role in promoting a durable, peaceful solution through diplomacy to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” Shankland supports both aid to Israel and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. She’s a strong supporter of the two-state solution, and has said that “for peace to exist between Israel and its neighbors, the government must rein in the most extreme elements of the settler movement, halt any further settlement expansion, and oppose any proposal to annex parts of the West Bank.”
