Richard Boykin, an attorney and former member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, is running for Illinois' 7th Congressional District.
Boykin served as chief of staff and legislative director to U.S. Rep. Danny K. Davis from 1997 to 2006. In 2014, He was elected to represent the 1st District of Cook County, comprising the West Side of Chicago, serving from 2014-2018. His agenda on the County Board of Commissioners prioritized the reduction of gun violence, criminal justice reform, jobs, economic development, and the expansion of mental health services.
Boykin practiced law at Barnes & Thornburg LLP.
