Sorensen represents Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, which was heavily targeted by Republicans in the 2024 Cycle. He holds the distinction of being the first openly gay Congressman from Illinois.
Sorensen has been a strong J Street ally during his tenure in Congress, signing onto several letters and pieces of legislation calling for increased levels of humanitarian aid in Gaza and reaffirming support for a Two-State Solution.
