Adam Schiff

  • Endorsed
  • Senate, california

Congressman Schiff has represented Los Angeles, Burbank and Glendale since 2001 after beating an incumbent in what was, at the time, the most expensive House race in history.

As ranking member and subsequently chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Schiff has become renowned for his leadership on national security and foreign policy issues. He became particularly notable after playing a high-profile role in conducting inquiries related to Russian interference in the 2016 United States Presidential Election. Schiff has also led efforts to protect the freedom of the press overseas by authorizing the Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act, as well as legislation to prevent the proliferation of nuclear material to terrorist groups.

In 2021, Schiff was appointed to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol.

Congressman Schiff is a longtime supporter of the US-Israel relationship. He cosponsored H.R. 2748, the Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021, which called on the Department of State to promote further normalization of relations between Israel and its neighbors. Schiff also signed onto a May 2021 letter which pushed for an immediate ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict following a flare-up in hostilities.

Schiff was the primary sponsor of H.R. 9075, the Support for Iranian Political Prisoners Act. He publicly critiqued the Trump administration for pulling out of the Iran deal, saying that “our departure from the JCPOA caused a tremendous rift with our European and other allies — who likewise assessed that Iran was complying with its obligations under that agreement — and thus increased our isolation, rather than Iran’s.”
