Dr. Aisha Wahab is a California State Senator running to represent California’s 14th Congressional District.
Before serving in elected office, Aisha worked in nonprofit organizations and consulting. During that time, she served as Chair of the Alameda County Human Relations Commission, as a Public Health Commissioner and as a board member for Abode Services, Tri-City Volunteers, and the Afghan Coalition.
In 2018, Aisha became the first Afghan American woman elected to public office in the United States, serving on the Hayward City Council and later as Mayor Pro Tem. In 2022, she became the first Afghan American elected to the California State Legislature. She currently serves as Assistant Majority Leader and Chair of the Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee.
