Known as the “defender of democracy” for his leading role on the January 6th committee, Jamie Raskin is an experienced progressive legislator elected to Congress following a distinguished career in the Maryland State Senate.
A self-described “effective progressive,” Raskin rose to national prominence by serving as the lead impeachment manager during the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. Prior to his tenure in Congress, Raskin was a three-term State Senator in Maryland, where he also served as the Senate Majority Whip. Rep. Raskin is a strong J Street ally and was a keynote speaker at the J Street 2022 National Conference. Having family living in Israel, Rep. Raskin believes that the US-Israel relationship is based on shared values and interests including democracy, equality, peace and justice.
