Stalwart liberal Senator Michael Bennet has represented Colorado since being appointed to his seat in 2009.
Earlier in his career, Bennet worked as a managing director for the Anschutz Investment Company, chief of staff to then-Denver mayor (and his now-Senate colleague) John Hickenlooper and superintendent of Denver Public Schools. He was among the names considered for US Secretary of Education in the Obama administration.
During Bennet’s time in the Senate, he has focused on conserving the environment, combating gun violence, and improving education access and quality.
