Representing Illinois’ Cook and DuPage counties, Sean Casten became the first Democrat to represent the 6th district in seventy years. One of only a handful of scientists in the House of Representatives, Casten is a powerful voice in Congress warning about the devastating impact of climate change.
Before entering Congress, Casten began his career as an energy consultant and later became the CEO of Turbostream Corporation, a fuel-efficient power-plant manufacturer. In 2007, he founded Recycled Energy Development, LLC., which seeks to reduce greenhouse emissions. In Congress, Rep. Casten serves on the Committees on Financial Services and Science, Space and Technology.
Rep. Casten is a strong proponent of the U.S.-Israel relationship and believes that the United States should work with Israel and the Palestinians to achieve long-term peace through a two-state solution. He traveled with J Street on a Congressional Delegation to Israel in 2022 and served on a panel with fellow Members of Congress at J Street’s National Conference in October of 2022.
