Sharice Davids has represented the Kansas City metropolitan area since 2019, when she unseated a four term incumbent to become just the second Democrat to represent her district since 1963. She is the first LGBTQ+ Native American to be elected to Congress.
Since entering Congress, Davids has spent her time working to tackle the issues most important to Kansas families, including lowering the cost of living, bringing new jobs to the community, and fighting against special interests.
Rep. Davids previously served as vice chair of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. She co-chairs both the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus and the Congressional Native American Caucus.
Rep. Davids is a J Street ally.
In June 2022, Congresswoman Davids signed the Price-Lee-Wexton-Castro letter which pushed back against “flashpoints'' in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including settlement expansion, annexation and incitement to violence against Israelis and Palestinians. She also signed a June 2021 letter calling on the US government to lift the Trump administration’s hold on Palestinian aid. In 2020, she voted in favor of a war powers resolution to prevent President Trump from initiating an unauthorized military conflict with Iran.
