Progressive powerhouse Tina Smith has represented Minnesota in the Senate since 2018.
A longtime political staffer and consultant, Smith was a vice president at Planned Parenthood from 2003 to 2006, where she lobbied against efforts to curb abortion rights. During her Senate tenure, Smith has continued her work on women’s reproductive rights and has also focused on climate action and expanding healthcare access.
Smith serves on the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry and the Committee on Indian Affairs.
Senator Smith is a strong J Street ally. She has been a consistent supporter of fully funding US security aid to Israel as outlined in President Obama’s 10-year Memorandum of Understanding. Smith also signed the bicameral Merkley-Stansbury letter which pushed back against proposed evictions in the West Bank communities of Masafer Yatta.
Smith has publicly spoken out in favor of President Obama's Iran deal, which verifiably blocked Iran's path to nuclear weapons, and criticized the Trump administration’s withdrawal from the agreement.
