Senator Kim represented his home community in the US House of Representatives for three terms, representing parts of Burlington, Ocean, Mercer, and Monmouth Counties, before being elected to the US Senate in 2024.
During his time in the House, Kim focused on strengthening America’s national security and standing up for our service members, veterans, and their families as a member of the House Armed Services and House Foreign Affairs Committees. He also was an outspoken advocate for New Jersey’s entrepreneurs as a member of the House Small Business Committee. Kim also worked to address big challenges on the Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis and the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
Before being elected to represent New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, Senator Kim worked as a career public servant under both Democrats and Republicans, having served at USAID, the Pentagon, the State Department, the White House National Security Council, and in Afghanistan as an advisor to Generals Petraeus and Allen.
