Senator Ben Ray Luján is a lifelong New Mexican who has served in the Senate since 2021.
Prior to the Senate, Luján served New Mexico in the House of Representatives from 2009-2021. In 2018, Senator Luján successfully chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, leading the Democratic effort to take back the majority in the U.S. House while electing the most diverse and youngest Congress in history. In addition, he served as the Assistant Speaker of the US House from 2019-2021.
Senator Luján has championed efforts to create good-paying jobs in New Mexico, expand quality health care and protect patients with pre-existing conditions, preserve our natural resources and sacred sites, build a clean energy economy, and uplift the middle-class.
