Bobby Scott

Representative Bobby Scott has served Virginia's 3rd Congressional District for over three decades, first elected in 1993. Prior to his tenure in Congress,  Scott served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1978 to 1983 and in the Senate of Virginia from 1983 to 1993. He was the first African-American elected to Congress from Virginia since the reconstruction era. Scott was also the first American with Filipino ancestry to serve as a voting member of Congress.

Scott is in his fifth term as the Ranking Member of the Committee on Education & the Workforce, and additionally sits on the Committee on the Budget. His legislative priorities on the committee include workplace protections, expanding the accessibility of affordable healthcare, and student loan assistance. Scott attended Harvard College and Boston College Law School.
