Carol Obando-Derstine is a former non-profit executive and engineer running to unseat Ryan Mackenzie in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District.
Obando-Derstine was born in Colombia; her family immigrated to the US when she was three. After receiving her master’s from Penn State, she worked in a Head Start program and became the executive director of two prominent nonprofits: SkillsUSA Council and the Children’s Coalition of the Lehigh Valley. Obando-Derstine also served as a regional manager for Senator Bob Casey, as well as his statewide Latino Affairs Advisor. She also sat on the Governor's Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs.
Carol earned her second master’s degree in energy systems engineering from Lehigh University and has spent the last decade working on energy issues.
