Representative Amo has served Rhode Island's First Congressional District since 2023, when he won a special election to replace the now-retired J Street champion Rep. David Cicilline.
Prior to his election, Amo served as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and had previously served as Director of Public Engagement and Community Affairs for Governor Gina Raimondo. He was born in Pawtucket, RI, and graduated from Wheaton College with a B.A. in Political Science.
In his short time in office, Rep. Amo has shown himself to be a strong J Street ally. He cosponsored the Countering Antisemitism Act, which J Street strongly supports. He also voted no on the harmful Israel-only aid package, saying (in a joint statement with fellow JStreetPAC endorsee Seth Magaziner) "humanitarian aid to Gaza is vital to the long-term security of Israelis and Palestinians...For this reason, with heavy hearts, we cannot support this bill in its current form."
