Organizer, advocate and movement builder, Greg Casar is a freshman Member of Congress representing parts of Austin and San Antonio.
Casar rose to national prominence during his tenure on the Austin City Council. As a council member, he fought for bold progressive priorities including affordable housing, living wage increases and criminal justice reform efforts like “Ban the Box.”
Congressman Casar looks to be a J Street champion. In a widely reported letter to a local rabbi, he detailed his support for the right of Israelis to live in their own democratic state, while simultaneously being clear-eyed regarding the fact that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and indefinite occupation in the West Bank are untenable for Israelis, Palestinians and our collective conscience. Casar has pledged to support policies to provide humanitarian aid to those in need, while also restricting aid from being used in a manner that violates basic rights. He also pledged support for the continued efforts of the Biden Administration to reach a constructive and verifiable agreement with the Iranian government to ensure that Iran cannot ever acquire a nuclear weapon.
