Congresswoman Jill Tokuda was first elected in November of 2022. Her district comprises the majority of the state of Hawai’i outside of the city of Honolulu - including Kaua’i, Maui, Ni’i’hau, and Hawai’i (the Big Island). She was born and raised in the district, and later earned her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University. She is a fourth generation Japanese-American.
Prior to her service in Congress, Rep. Tokuda spent 12 years in the Hawai’i State Senate, where she served as Majority Whip and on a number of committees. In Congress, she has shown strong alignment with J Street's values and has shown herself to be a champion for pro-Israel, pro-peace, and pro-democracy legislation.
