Foreign policy expert Sara Jacobs became the youngest ever member of the California congressional delegation after winning her San Diego seat in 2020.
Jacobs had previously worked as foreign policy staffer in the State Department, UNICEF and the UN and served as a policy advisor for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
She now sits on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the House Armed Services Committee and the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth.
Rep. Jacobs is a J Street champion.
A Jewish Member of Congress with family in Israel, Jacobs has a deep understanding of J Street’s issues, the contours of debate within the Jewish community, and the situation on the ground.
Jacobs recognizes that the lack of a negotiated settlement is a significant threat to Israel’s long-term security and was an original backer of H.Res. 326, which reaffirmed congressional support for the two-state solution and opposition to settlements and annexation. She backs US security aid to Israel and has also spoken out against Republican efforts to cut off humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
