Rep. Sylvia Garcia represents the 29th District of Texas, encompassing much of eastern Houston. She has held the seat since her election in 2018. A lifelong Texan, Congresswoman Garcia earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University and her law degree from Texas Southern University. She served as the presiding judge of the Houston Municipal system and on the Harris County Commissioner's Court before serving in the Texas State Senate.
In the House, Rep. Garcia serves on the Financial Services and Judiciary Committees. She also served as one of the seven impeachment managers in the first impeachment of President Trump. The Congresswoman is a member of a number of caucuses, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, for which she serves as Whip. She also is a member of the Congressional Progressive, Pro-Choice, Mental Health, Adoption, and Equality Caucuses. Congresswoman Garcia is strongly aligned with J Street and we are thrilled to have her as part of our pro-Israel, pro-peace, and pro-democracy coaltion.
