  • Endorsed
  • 16th District, texas

Representative Veronica Escobar is a third-generation El Pasoan and lifelong Democrat. She is one of the first two Latinas to serve Texas in Congress when elected in 2018, and the first woman to hold the seat in El Paso.

In Congress, she has established herself as a national leader on gun safety, healthcare, reproductive justice and immigration. She has led legislation to address our nation’s immigration challenges in a responsible and humane manner by ensuring accountability, transparency and oversight. She has also led legislation to protect women’s healthcare providers, patients and staff by enhancing clinics’ security. She has also championed efforts that support our men and women in uniform, as well as the well-being of their dependents and spouses.

Before her election, she served on the governing body for El Paso County, first as a County Commissioner and then as County Judge. There, she fought back against those who used government for their own personal gain and worked with her colleagues to modernize and reform the organization. She also worked to make El Paso County a leader in expanding access to healthcare by building primary care clinics and the El Paso Children’s Hospital, the only children’s hospital on the US-Mexico border.
